Sewing on a button

It is easier than you think, if you have never sewn a button on.  Here is a simple chart that I found.  We used to learn to sew in school many moons ago.  When my kids were little I took some loosely woven fabric (like burlap) a large embroidery needle that was rather blunt on the end, large buttons and showed them how to stitch the button on.  It was great for small motor skills.  I am one of those women that find handwork relaxing and sew when I am watching tv.  I always add a drop of clear nail polish to the thread when I am done.  But, be careful not to drip on the shirt.

Extra tip:
When you purchase a button down style shirt from a store... seal the thread on the button right away.  Tame that stray thread that gets pulled and the button falls off before you have to break the thread out and find a matching button because the original button is lost.

Happy sewing!

Scratch another thing off the to do list...

I have wanted to change out the door knobs for a while now.  The front door did not have a lock, just a knob.  They were on sale at Home Depot... I love saving money.  I have installed many a lock in my day...these were the easiest ones I have ever done.  It only took about 10 minutes after the old knob was out.

New Locks...CHECK!

July is a big Birthday and Anniversary month in the family.  My Grandmother's birthday is tomorrow (she is no longer with us).  She would fly into town for a visit and we would all go to the airport to meet her.  Our daughters loved going to the airport.  Our oldest daughter's birthday is in three days.

My new Kam Snaps arrived today and I got to finish my new Kitchen Wet Bags (for un papertowels, napkins, cloths).  It hangs off the handle of the stove.  I love the bright Vintage look of the oilcloth.  I also made some in blue with strawberries.

The wetbags, un paper towels, family wipes and kitchen cloths are listed in my Zibbet Shop.

So much to do....

LAST DAY over on Artfire to sign up for the group rate of 5.95 a month...It goes up tomorrow.

I love this time of year...
The air turns cooler and we can start taking walks again (We have to stay inside most of the day in the hot Texas summers and I miss walking).   Hubby gets up early and we are in bed early or we would walk at night.

Hubby has tomatoes and green beans in our fall garden and I am super busy with sewing, jewelry and buttons. I will need to live until I am 150 to get it all done!
One of my newest listings on Artfire...My Fall Goddess Bib necklace

I added all of the Artfire Collections to my blog on Artfire...Thank you to those of you that have added one of my items to your collections...I am blessed to have some fantastic people that unselfishly spread the love of handmade goods.

2 of my play toys...

These are part of the photos that I took to send into Artfire for the Certified Handmade.  I had to get rid of some supplies first.  But that was only 2 or 3 listings.  Aren't they cute?
And more creative spaces......Fingers crossed!
Update:
I had my pin backs in the design category first....I should have checked that before I sent in the application.  I corrected them and still on the waiting list.

I have been Tagged

I have been tagged by

HotRocksGlassJewels

I have to tag 7 of you

....I doubt any of you are old enough to remember Romper Room.
I see in my magic mirror:

I chose the list from last nights chat on BlockHeadRadio. Tag.....You're it!

Here is how it works, for those of you unfamiliar with the game:
1. Link to your tagger and list these rules on your blog.

2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.

3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blog.

4. Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

My Seven:
1. Still have my Prom and Wedding dresses in the back of my closet. I can't fit into the prom dress (It is barely a size 5).
2. I have a dry sense of humor (can be mistaken---so I have to watch how it could be taken the wrong way).
3. I have brown eyes
4. I took shorthand and learned to type on a manual (antique type) typewriter.
5. I am not very competitive, I will not step on someone to get ahead.
6. I sew while watching tv, chatting, waiting for stuff to load on the computer and take it with me in the car during wasted time. (Sick lady, aren't I)
7. Sci-Fi Geek (One look at my movie shelf---it is no secret).

I hope those of you that I have chosen have fun creating your list.
